Moses saw some pretty amazing things in his time. He saw a rock that spewed forth water when he spoke to it. He encountered God on the holy mountain. He communicated with a burning bush. He stood in wonder as the Red Sea parted in front of him. And how could we forget the plagues? Yeah, I would say Moses saw his fair share of incredible things. He was God’s chosen man, and God used him to do things that boggle the mind. Moses saw things that we simply can’t fathom. But despite what he saw, despite his relationship with the Creator, a relationship that far exceeded that of other mortals, he longed for more. In Exodus chapter 33, Moses makes one of the boldest requests recorded in all of scripture: “Show me your glory.” Despite the good standing that he had with the Lord, despite what he had seen already, he needed more. He was close to the heart of God, but he wanted to be closer. And that’s exactly what happens to a man that comes in contact with Jehovah. When we truly possess a relationship with God, it isn’t something that we are simply satisfied with: we long for more, we long to see his face. We long to be “Nearer My God to Thee”; and if we have any of his presence in our life, we will never reach a point when we don’t want more. Moses encountered God on the mountain that day because he had the guts to ask, and we have the opportunity to do the same if we truly seek His face. He may not pass before us in the same way that He did with Moses, but I can assure you that his glory is ready to work in your life, if you will only make yourself available. “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.” This week, ask God to show you His glory. He wants you to see it…
